Angry Manchester United fan calls for Old Trafford clear out, wants ‘accountant’ Ed Woodward and ‘garbage’ Paul Pogba to go

If it wasn’t already over, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s honeymoon at Manchester United has definitely ended.

The club lost 3-0 at the Camp Nou to Barcelona, losing 4-0 on aggregate to Barcelona on a night where Lionel Messi was at his brilliant best.

United’s European adventure came to a sorry end

United’s European adventure came to a sorry end

It means United’s only route into next season’s competition will be by finishing in the top four of the Premier League.

However, they’re only two points off fourth-place Arsenal and have improved drastically since Solskjaer first took charge in December.

But United fan Mike thinks there are big problems at Old Trafford and believes a massive overhaul is required in the summer if the club are to get back to the top.

Mike believes Pogba needs to leave the club

2

Mike believes Pogba needs to leave the club

He believes executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward should be first on the list followed by record signing Paul Pogba, who Mike labelled as ‘garbage.’

Mike, who claims to have been following United since 1955, then went onto say that this is one of the worst Red Devils sides he’s ever seen!

Speaking to Jim White and Simon Jordan, Mike said: “To answer your question on whether there should be a clear-out – absolutely and [Ed] Woodward should be the first on that list. He’s an accountant.

“Pogba can go. I’m sick to death of people trying to tell me that he’s a world superstar. He’s absolute garbage!

“I’ve seen every United side since 1955 and this is one of the worst.

“The clear-out should start with Young, Smalling and Jones who don’t have a brain cell between them. They can get rid of all the centre-halves as well.

“Pogba can go and Fred – absolute rubbish.

“The only people that should stay are the three guys up front. They started off alright and then suddenly just stopped playing.”

Real Madrid are still keen on adding Paul Pogba to their ranks this summer - but the French World Cup winner will have to take a pay-cut in order to secure a move to the Spainish giants. According to ESPN, Madrid are not prepared to match his £290,000-a-week Old Trafford salary, and would insist on the midfielder taking a drop in his wages.

Danny Murphy suggests Real Madrid should be trying to sign Kevin De Bruyne instead of Paul Pogba.

Madrid are reportedly desperate to sign Manchester United star Pogba this summer, with manager Zinedine Zidane a known admirer of the Frenchman.

The midfielder has previously said it would be a ‘dream’ to play under Zidane – and reports claim he would even take a pay cut to make the move happen.

However, Madrid fans aren’t overly keen on the 26-year-old.

AS.com asked 160,000 fans who the club’s most important purchase would be this summer and only 11 per cent went for Pogba.

Murphy, the former Premier League midfielder, believes Manchester City’s De Bruyne would be a better buy.

The Belgian only made 19 Premier League appearances this season due to injury and started on the bench for the FA Cup final victory over Watford.

Murphy told talkSPORT: “If you think of Real Madrid going for Pogba and saying, ‘We’ll build a team around him’ – they’d have to spend a hell of a lot of money.

Football: Spurs win gives United more to be happy about than just David de Gea

Football: Spurs win gives United more to be happy about than just David de Gea

LONDON - It would be easy to simply file this one under "Games Manchester United Won Thanks To David de Gea".
And yet, while that particular cabinet must be bulging after the Spain goalkeeper's latest outstanding performance, the Red Devils' 1-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley Stadium on Sunday (Jan 13) was by no means an injustice.
The travelling United faithful celebrated wildly in the stands at their corner of the stadium for some time after the majority of the 80,000 had exited and had every reason to be thrilled.
For it was the way they saw off Mauricio Pochettino's formidable Spurs side that mattered to them. They were gritty, opportunistic, confident.
Even when Spurs had stirred from their slumber - they did not register a single shot on target in the first half - and started testing de Gea, one effort after another, United's players did not panic.
Jesse Lingard shone brighter than his England teammate Dele Alli, Paul Pogba was a cocky, assured presence at the tip of United's midfield trident, and the duo of Ander Herrera and Nemanja Matic behind him, so often the target of fans ire during the Dark Mourinho Days, were excellent.
Centre-back Victor Lindelof, meanwhile, stuck to Spurs' chief goal-scorer Harry Kane like a leech, snapping away at his heels and giving him hardly any room in the penalty box.

Luke Shaw, Ashley Young and de Gea drew jeers and whistles from the home supporters for their time-wasting tactics in protecting their lead, and looked fully in control - something that rarely happened before Mourinho's sacking just before Christmas.
The swagger is back.
It should be noted, though, that the two teams had vastly different build-ups to Sunday's game.
United spent a week basking in the warmth with a training camp in Dubai, while Spurs negotiated a hard-earned 1-0 win over Chelsea in the League Cup semi-final.
This explained in part Spurs' slow start, and United's quickness of thought, which was highlighted by Pogba's superb pass to release Marcus Rashford, who raced past Jan Vertonghen to arrow a shot beyond Hugo Lloris just before half-time.
Much has been made of Spurs' title tilt - which now looks unlikely after two consecutive Premier League losses at home - but United exposed their shallow squad's inadequacies.
When Moussa Sissoko was forced off in the first half, they had no established central midfielder on the bench to come on for him. Eric Dier and Victor Wanyama are on the mend from injuries, while Mousa Dembele has started only seven games and is reportedly on the verge of a lucrative move to China.
Worse still, talisman Kane limped off the pitch after appearing to twist his ankle late on in the game. The team's second highest goal-getter? Asian Cup-bound Son.
Last week, Pochettino, who has been tipped as the leading contender for the permanent manager's job at United, spoke about Spurs having to "operate differently" if they are to take the next step and rub shoulders with the elite of European football. His words were taken as a call for more investment from Spurs, even if he downplayed his remarks later.
If the London club do not spend in the January transfer window, though, the lure of resources at Old Trafford in the summer, could be too much to turn down for Pochettino.

Danny Rose: England and Tottenham left-back ‘can’t wait’ to retire from football due to racism problems – ‘I just want to get out of it’

England and Tottenham defender Danny Rose is so sick of football’s failure to tackle racism that he ‘can’t wait’ to retire from the game.

The full-back has been victim of abuse multiple times in his career, most recently during the Three Lions’ Euro 2020 qualifier at Montenegro last week.

Danny Rose was subjected to racist abuse when he was booked towards the end of the 5-1 win

3

Danny Rose was subjected to racist abuse when he was booked towards the end of the 5-1 win

Rose, alongside teammates Raheem Sterling and Callum Hudson-Odoi were chanted at by some of the home crowd, in a game where the defender was cautioned by the referee late on.

The incident is not an isolated one this season, however, with Sterling allegedly being racially abused by a group of Chelsea fans while in action for Manchester City in a Premier League clash at Stamford Bridge in December.

Meanwhile, a banana was thrown in the direction of Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang during their north London derby victory over Tottenham in the same month, while footage emerged of a West Ham fan calling Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah a ‘Muslim c***’ during a match at the London Stadium in February.

Rose was subjected to monkey noises during an England Under-21s match at Serbia in 2012 on a night where he was also pelted with stones and provoked by the home players.

He was sent off following a mass brawl at the end of the game and despite the Football Association’s appeal, UEFA branded Rose a liar and described his own behaviour as ‘unsportsmanlike, inappropriate and vulgar’ after mimicking the monkey gestures being aimed at him by the Serbia fans.

And Rose, 28, was critical of the way racism incidents are handled by the authorities in football so much so that he can’t wait to hang up his boots.

Speaking to The Sun, he said: â€Å“I’ve had enough.

“At the minute how I programme myself I just think to myself: ‘I’ve got five or six more years left in football and I just can’t wait to see the back of it.’

â€Å“Seeing how things are done in the game at the minute. It’s just – whatever, isn’t it? I just want to get out of it.”

Rose is Spurs’ longest-serving player after signing from Leeds for £1million in 2007.

He’s made 174 appearances for the north London club, has 26 England caps to his name and also represented Great Britain at the 2012 Olympics.

However, Rose insists he’s looking forward to calling time on his playing career because of racism.

Rose added: “That’s how I feel. I feel I‘ve got five or six more years left and I just want to enjoy football as much as I can.

â€Å“There is so much politics and whatever in football and I just can’t wait to see the back of it, to be honest.”

But Spurs are said to be keen on a £1 million move for Malencia, who could compete with Lloris and Paulo Gazzaniga next season. Michel Vorm is set to leave Tottenham when his contract expires this summer, so the Londoners will need a new third-choice goalkeeper regardless. Whether Malenica is deemed good enough is now up to Spurs' scouting team.

Football: Pogba doubles again as Solskjaer extends perfect start

MANCHESTER (REUTERS) -The re-born Paul Pogba scored twice, for the second time since Jose Mourinho's departure from the club, as Manchester United beat Bournemouth 4-1 to make it three wins in a row for caretaker boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
After emphatic wins over Cardiff City and Huddersfield Town, the manner of the victory was further evidence of the return of attacking football under Solskjaer and of the liberated way in which the players are performing.
None seem to be relishing their football again more than World Cup winner Pogba, who has netted four of the 12 goals that rejuvenated United have scored in the three matches since their former Norwegian striker took the reins.
It took Pogba just five minutes to strike for sixth-placed United, sliding the ball in at the back post after a wonderful piece of dribbling and a precise low cross from Marcus Rashford.
The Frenchman, who scored twice against Huddersfield Town on Boxing Day, then burst into the box to head home an Ander Herrera cross from deep to make it 2-0.
"It is different, we still won games with the old manager but it is just a different style of playing," said Pogba.
"We are more offensive and we are creating more chances and that is how we want to play. I always want to do more, but I want to play for the team and play simple." Not only was Pogba appearing in more advanced positions but he looked back to his confident self on the ball, strutting while in possession and constantly looking to create.
There was real class about United's third, in the 45th minute, as Anthony Martial delivered a low cross with the outside of his boot and Rashford guided it home off the outside of his outstretched foot.

Bournemouth pulled a goal back in stoppage-time at the end of the first half though when David Brooks skipped around the United defence and placed a cross on the head of Nathan Ake who nodded past David De Gea.
Romelu Lukaku made it 4-1, two minutes after coming on as a 70th minute substitute, latching on to a Pogba through ball and hooking the ball past the advancing Asmir Begovic.
Pogba was inches away from a hat-trick with a low drive from 20 yards out that struck the post.
The relaxed and positive mood was slightly undone by a wild lunge in the 79th minute from United defender Eric Bailly on Ryan Fraser, with the Ivorian rightly being shown a straight red card.
"In the first half we attacked the game with a high tempo and high energy but the response to their goal was great. We managed the game much better than against Huddersfield," said Solskjaer.
"We are still looking for a clean sheet - you can't switch off for one second in this league.
"It's a very very good performance, the crowd was enjoying it but now Newcastle, the next one, is a different kind of test."

Jose Mourinho can at least fall back on a pretty decent record at Anfield, where he has won half of his eight Premier League matches, giving him the best win percentage among visiting managers
