After comfortably dispatching Chelsea at home on Sunday, the Reds are potentially four games away from lifting their first league title since 1990.

Next up for the Merseysiders is a trip to relegation-threatened Cardiff City – a fixture the league table would suggest is a formality for the visitors.

But history tells a different story.

In 33 games against the Bluebirds since 1922, Liverpool have won just 13 games – a measly 39%.

The Reds have actually lost 18 games in all competitions during that time.

However, their recent record is far better as they have beaten Cardiff four times in the last five games.

It is worth noting the majority of the fixtures between the two sides took place during the 1920’s and the 1950’s, but title rivals City will surely look for any advantage at this stage of the season.
