Callum Hudson-Odoi could be in the England senior set-up for good, Under-21 manager Aidy Boothroyd has told talkSPORT.
The Chelsea youngster, 18, was handed his first ever U21 call-up earlier this month as a reward for his impressive breakthrough season with the Blues.
But he barely had time to introduce himself to his new team-mates before he was quickly drafted into Gareth Southgate’s men’s side after a number of players pulled out with injuries.

He ended up playing in both of the Three Lions’ opening two Euro 2020 qualifying matches, as a substitute against Czech Republic before starting Monday’s 5-1 win over Montenegro, and impressed with his no-fear attitude, attacking threat and even played a hand in a goal in each game.
And, given his success in a senior shirt, Boothroyd has admitted he is unsure if the winger will ever return to his Young Lions squad.
Joining talkSPORT on his side’s matchday against Germany U21, Boothroyd explained how the teenager’s promotion came about.
He told Jim White: “I was in the middle of a press conference and then I got a call from Gareth, so I stepped out and took it and he said, ‘we need to take Callum’.

Boothroyd says he and Gareth Southgate will discuss where Hudson-Odoi’s international future lies
“So I went over to see Callum, who had just arrived and was just having his dinner, and I just said to him: ’Listen I’ve got some good news and some better news. The good news is you’re up with the senior team, the better news is you’re definitely coming back with me in the summer!’
“Now, whether he is or not after last night, that’s between Gareth and myself, we’ll have to have a chat and see what’s best for him.
“But that’s how it all came about. He came and he went. It was a very fleeting under-21 debut, he just got his dinner and left!â€
