Paul Pogba: Patrice Evra believes Real Madrid transfer target will leave as criticism from Manchester United fans is ‘killing’ him

Patrice Evra feels criticism from Manchester Untied fans is ‘killing’ Paul Pogba and that will force him to leave the club in the summer.

Pogba was seen receiving verbal abuse from some angry United fans after their 2-0 defeat to Cardiff on Sunday.

The 26-year-old World Cup winner only returned to the club from Juventus in 2016, but has strongly been linked with a move to Real Madrid.

Speaking in an interview with former team-mate Gary Neville for Sky Sports, Evra said: “I think he will leave because you need to feel the love when you play somewhere, you need to be committed,”adding that United fans love commitment and incidents like the one at Old Trafford on Sunday are ‘killing’ the player.

“When I go to the game and I see fans shouting and swearing at players, I am in shock. In my time, you can play the worst game of your life and they will clap you. I remember losing 4-1 at home to Liverpool and they were still singing. That’s the United fans I know – they’ve just had enough.

“I don’t talk for Paul, whether he stays or leaves, but when you have negativity around you, you should leave.”

Evra, who spent eight years at Old Trafford and won five Premier League titles, is close friends with Pogba and once told him he could become United’s answer to Patrick Vieira.

“I advise Paul every day. We Facetime, we talk. I tell him every day what it means to wear the tracksuit, not even the shirt, just the tracksuit and what it represents. He listens to me,” Evra added.

“Before he left the club when he was young to go to Juventus, I spent two hours at his house talking to his mother and brothers, saying how Paul can be the new Patrick Vieira at United.”
