Tottenham new stadium latest: Spurs to ‘suspend fans who resell tickets’ for opening match with pair going for £1,200 on social media

Tottenham have warned supporters they could have their season tickets suspended if discovered trying to profit from the club’s move to their new stadium.

Spurs will finally move into the £1billion structure next month, with Crystal Palace visiting the ‘Tottenham Hotspur Stadium’ on April 3 as the first official fixture.

They will then take on Manchester City in the Champions League quarter-finals a week later, with four further Premier League home matches remaining before the end of the season.

The north London club have already confirmed they are freezing season ticket prices for 2019/20 – their first full campaign at the new ground – but some people could find their tickets suspended if found guilty of selling their seats for next month’s Crystal Palace clash.

Tottenham are aware of some supporters listing their tickets for sale on social media, with the Telegraph reporting on one advert which lists two tickets for £1,200.

And Spurs have threatened to punish supporters who breach the club’s terms and conditions apropos the buying of tickets.

A Tottenham spokesperson said: “Season-ticket holders or anyone else selling their tickets on social-media platforms and other unofficial websites are in breach of the club’s terms and conditions, therefore leaving themselves liable to having their accounts suspended.

“The only official way to transfer tickets is via Ticket Exchange or Ticket Share which become operational on the date tickets go on sale.”

Tottenham’s Ticket Exchange is for the selling of tickets at face value for any match a ticket holder cannot attend, while Ticket Share allows a nominated individual to use a season ticket holder’s ticket.

Spurs originally planned to move into their new stadium last September, but various delays have pushed the opening date back by almost seven months.
